Put A Stop To Neighbours Using Your Skip Bin

A Four Step Guide

December 9, 2021

It can be frustrating to have booked a skip bin and have some neighbours make use of your bin without your permission. To avoid others from throwing waste in your skip bin, check out some of the suggestions below.

1. Fill it First

Be strategic with your delivery and pickup days and organise the skip bin to be delivered close to the time for when you plan to use it. We have flexible pickup arrangements organised at time of booking. You are able to request earlier pickup than your allocated hire period if required. Call our admin team for early pickup. Block out a weekend or couple of days to fill your skip bin, ensuring you use your bin to capacity and not leave room for wandering hands to put in extra rubbish.

2. Cover it up

People are less likely to sneak rubbish in if you cover your bin with a tarp in between uses. This will also give them the idea that the bin is not for general use or already full awaiting pickup.

3. Light it up

It is easier for people to use the darkness to conceal them throwing waste in your bin. Putting your bin near a motion sensored light or well lit area will make it harder for them to not be seen. It is embarrassing to be caught!

4. Place it on your driveway

Organise for your bin to be placed on or close to your driveway by our experienced drivers. The closer the bin is to the house the better when trying to keep it for private use. It is your right to protect your bin from extra waste.  It is perfectly acceptable to  establishing boundaries with booking skip bins and ensuring others are not using them  at your expense. By using these tips, you can make sure that your skip is protected.
