How to Order a Skip Bin: A Guide

It's not always easy to figure out how to order a skip bin. This 3- step guide will help you decide which size is best for your needs, what types of waste you're throwing away and where it should be placed on the property.

Step 1: Size.

To determine the size of the skip bin needed, you will need to estimate the weight of your waste. Check our sizing page for skip measurements, and size comparisons. You can also call our office on 0746384438 to speak to our friendly team to help estimate the size needed.  Skip bins come in a range of sizes.

Mini Skip Bins ( 2 cubic metre and 3 cubic metre skips) are suitable for small household jobs or occasional waste removal eg one bathroom renovation, a small kitchen remodel, a garden cleanup or garage clean out.

Standard Skip bins (4 cubic metres, 6 cubic metres) can take care of most household renovations including carpet removal, garden waste and green waste from landscaping projects. We have some 6 cubic metre skip bins available with doors, perfect for your wheelbarrow.

Large Skip Bins or Hook Bins (8 cubic metres, 10 cubic metres, 15 cubic metres) are better suited for larger commercial projects.

Step 2: Waste Type

Our skip bins are split into three categories; Green Waste Only, Concrete Only and General Waste (Construction and Demolition Waste).  Our Green Waste Skip bins are best for garden cleanups. You can dispose of garden clippings, branches and grass in a green waste skip bin. Our concrete only skip bins consist of concrete, bricks, bitumen or footings. Be mindful not to fill your skip bin with a large amount of soil as this will compact in the bin. Our concrete and green waste only bins are more cost effective as the waste can be recycled into aggregates and mulch in house. Our last and most popular waste type is our general waste bins. This includes any waste material from a building, renovation or demolition, timber, plasterboard, steel, plastic, concrete or green waste. The general waste bins are ideal to get rid of 'a little bit of everything'.

Waste that we do not accept: asbestos, tyres, biological waste, hazardous waste, gas bottles, food scraps and petroleum based products.

Step 3: Placement of bins.

Before placing your order, consider where you would like the skip bin placed on your property or site. Does it have access for a truck to get in and out of? Are there overhead hazards such as powerlines or trees? Are there items in the way of where you would like the skip placed?
